Fauxpocalypse Now
Early on in the COVID-19 faux-pandemic, I remember being shocked by the gullibility and fearfulness of many Christians I had previously admired. It wasn’t merely that these brothers and sisters were buying into the propaganda they were being fed by the media and social media outlets. What really shocked me was that these individuals seemingly forgot that God alone knows the end from the beginning. He alone, and those whom he has chosen to serve as his prophets, can tell us what will inevitably come to pass. What is more, God teaches us how we ought to evaluate the predictions of men.
In Deuteronomy 18:20-22, God tells the children of Israel —
…the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’ And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.
While the Lord is teaching his people how to judge a self-identified prophet’s legitimacy, there is a general principle we can glean from this instruction. Those who claim that a certain event will inevitably come to pass, and use this as justification for assuming the authority to rule over men’s lives, forbidding the divinely revealed way of worshiping God, as well as prescribing new ways of worshiping which he has not revealed, these men are to be put to the test. And if their predictions fail, they are not to be feared.
As far as the COVID-19 faux-pocalypse is concerned, men like Anthony Fauci may not have been claiming to be prophets, but they were certainly simulating the role of a prophet by forecasting that the human civilization as we know it would come to an end by means of a “novel,” ineffable, omnipotent, and omnipresent virus. Sadly, many churches feared the prognostications of the prophets of the New World Order, suspended the Law of God by telling people to “stay home in order to save lives,” and added to God’s Law by telling people what they needed to add to their worship services if they wanted to continue worshiping God. The justification for this was that in order to love God and their neighbor, they needed to do these things. For if they did not do these things, then they would be stricken with a plague and surely die.
The Outcome & Why It Matters for the Future
Ultimately, the oracles of Imperial College London concerning the destruction wrought by the almighty COVID-19, and the prophetic sermons of Dr. Anthony Fauci were shown to be nothing but the profane babblings of megalomaniacal shills.1 These men, as they had in the past, falsely foretold what would come to pass, and consequently reaped (and are still reaping) huge financial gains.2 Some Christians who fell for their con sinned grievously against God and their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, and proudly resisted correction for their foolish, destructive, pathetic, idolatrous, and obsequious obedience to self proclaimed “experts” who, in truth, desire nothing more than their eternal ruin. Others have accepted correction, and are now humbly submitting their minds to God’s truth.
This should make it clear to us that all Christians ought to be on guard against the next fauxpocalyptic prophecy coming from the “experts” donning overly priced three-piece suits and “power ties” like modernized papal vestments. If it isn’t a virus granted god-like attributes, or a faux-insurrection, or a global meltdown, rest assured it will be some other cataclysmic event that will be used to dupe you into not merely following socio-politically and economically destructive practices, but directly sinning against God by refusing to leave your home to exercise dominion throughout the world, and preach the Gospel to the nations.
When that moment comes, remember the Word of God, and that failed prophets are not to be feared.
Rather, you are to do as Christ commands you —
…do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.3
